The offloading times and traffic play a big roll. At some places the offloading takes longer than other places. Most cases clients do not answer their phones when we phone them 30minutes in advance and we either need to wait, or move over to the next delivery and return to the client’s house. Some deliveries takes longer to offload than other. During our busiest times, the delivery times can be from 07:00am to 21:00pm. We do offer a VIP service to deliver same day, or select your specific date and time.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to give an exact time, as the offloading times and traffic play a big role. The team follows a route from point A to point Z, and that is why your delivery might be at the end of the delivery day. We do offer a VIP service to deliver same day, or select your specific date and time.

Yes we do.

Yes, we do.

No there is no minimum quantity if you collect from our warehouse or outlets.

Either at our warehouse in Durbanville, or at out two outlets in Tableview or Westlake.

Yes we do. Although we do not have an outlet in Johannesburg, we do deliver via courier. The minimum order to deliver to Johannesburg or anywhere else in the country, is 55 bags. That is one pallet of 1 ton. You can add extras like charcoal, briquettes, firelighters and kindling, with the total weight of the pallet not being more that 1.1 ton.

Sekelbos/Sickle Bush has a bigger and hotter flame. The Sekelbos burns slightly shorter than the Kameeldoring, but is a very popular choice.

We import all our wood from sustainable sources out Namibia.

Our wood can also be used for decorative purposes.

No, there are no toxins in our wood…wood such as rooikrans, blue gum, wattle, black wattle, bloekom, any other eucalyptus, contains harmful gums and oils which will destroy the taste of your meat once braai-ing or contaminate your fireplace, living room and chimney with an awful smell.

It depends on the diameter of the wood, but it can be anything from 18-30 pieces.

Sekelbos/Sickle Bush, Kameeldoring/ Camelthorn , Swarthaak / Blackthorn and Mopani / Mupane

If you compare wood types bulk density factors, it is quite clear which are the hardest:

  • Mopani / Mupane = 1200kg p/m3
  • Kameeldoring/ Camelthorn = 936 kg p/m3
  • Sekelbos/Sickle Bush = 825 kg p/m3
  • Swarthaak / Blackthorn = 758 kg p/m3

Mopani / Mupane is becoming hard to harvest due to heavy restrictions in some areas of Namibia.  Longest burning wood; however has the lowest amount of generated head and lower flames, but coals that could last all through the night until the next day.

Kameeldoring/ Camelthorn is the all famous ‘best wood’ for almost any occasion…great all-rounder.. Simply cause of the name however density factors of this kind may differ from batch to batch, depending of which area in Namibia it originates from as older trees tend to be denser and grown in-between rocks whereas the younger trees grow in the open fields / dessert lands.

Sekelbos/Sickle Bush is very famous for the ‘next level’ braai wood after local Rooikrans, view glasses of wine and high heat

Swarthaak / Blackthorn doring mix is famous for the 85cm high flames it provides. VERY hot flames, and generally a quicker braai will apply. Awesome for pizza ovens, and or open fireplaces and is burns very aggressive .

Wrong! Namibian firewood works BEST for fireplaces too! It is far more economical than to use local woods. Some people prefer local woods, but they don’t mind spending 30minutes to lights the fire, and use a packet of firelighters to get the actual fire going.

Depending on what we have in stock and really personal taste; it’s always great to start your fireplace with our doringmix Or Sekelbos / Siclebush firewood as the flames burns up to 90cm tall, and being the hottest. After 15minutes, it’s always good to throw some bigger logs Camelthorn or Mupane onto the fire, after which you can basically forget about your fireplace until late.

Namibian hardwood firewood burns clean, do not contain any gum, oils and is always dry. These dirty, Oak, Wattle, Pine or Bloekom wet species gives off harmful smoke and actually destroys the window of closed combustion fireplaces. Also the glue clogs up the air vents, and get stuck inside the chimney, therefore extra maintenance is needed to clear your chimney.

Some customers prefer the invader sekelbos / siclebush to be a little green as it burns better and keeps it coals longer too, yet this do not affect the burning at all.

Due to the fact that it is a natural product, different weather conditions have a big impact on the soil conditions such as more rain fall than other regions of Namibia. Therefore harvesting practices differ all over Namibia. Open sand fields or rocky areas are the main cause of the end quality of the hardwood. If that certain area is very sandy, the actual tree grows a lot easier than trees growing in rocky areas being denser as they grow slower. Unfortunately we cannot control what nature provides.
